5 insights to help you cope with change.
Change is good. But we’re acutely aware that change isn’t always easy. Usually embracing change is difficult due to personal fear; whether it’s fear of failure or fear of trying. Regardless of the reason, reflecting and being candid about where your fear stems from is paramount. It will allow you to dig deep and address the root of the issue.
As humans, we sometimes struggle with control issues. We try to chart out every possible scenario and avoid future plot twists. However, learning to embrace those curveballs is a major premise to life. You will enter uncomfortable, yet exciting, comfort zones. In return, you’ll grow stronger, wiser and better. Listed below are five insights that will help you significantly cope with change.
Nothing lasts forever.
If you really think about it, nothing lasts forever. Although it may sound a little dark, it’s an unfortunate reality of life. In fact, people often struggle with making certain decisions because they are hung up on the notion of something lasting forever. However, you can rebrand this thought into something more positive. If you can accept the fact that nothing will infinitely last, you will have an easier experience embracing the future. Once you look towards what’s to come, you’ll feel a lot more optimistic about your circumstances.

Change doesn’t have to always be big.
Small changes can still make a difference in your life. When we think of change, we immediately think of something drastic- Moving to a new country, switching careers, or ending a long term relationship. However, you can still struggle to cope with small changes- Whether that’s having a difficult time scheduling fifteen minutes of daily exercise or even reading a book a month. If you’re having a difficult time managing these small changes to your life, don’t worry. It’s normal to feel a little overwhelmed. Just give yourself some time to adjust to these modifications. Before you know it, you will become fully acclimated to your new circumstances.

Embracing change wakes you up.
Sometimes we get so comfortable in life that we end up hindering our personal growth. Comfort zones are great, but never breaking out of your comfort zone isn’t beneficial. Ultimately, you can’t break out of your comfort zone if you don’t embrace some change. If you’re feeling stagnant about your circumstances, try to honestly evaluate whether you break out of your comfort zone. If you don’t, then try to embrace some change. It might be scary at first, but once you get accustomed to trying new things, you will feel fearless.

Stop being so shy.
Being shy can prevent you from excelling in life. We don’t want your shyness to get in the way of obtaining whatever you desire. Anxiousness is usually attributed as a primary factor to one’s shyness. If you’re feeling anxious in certain situations, ask yourself why- Is it because of childhood trauma or fear of rejection? Locate and internalize these triggers. You can’t break free from your shyness if you don’t address the root of the problem. Once you have, construct a list that outlines situations where you should demonstrate more confidence. Ultimately, encountering these episodes whilst being brave will only help you embrace change.

Stop procrastinating.
Experiencing change can’t occur if you don’t take any action. Assuming that you fear change, you might be procrastinating on making certain decisions. Halting certain decisions will ultimately inhibit your personal growth. This is something we want to avoid. Adopting healthy habits that encourage productivity will only help you in the long run. A simple, yet effective tip, would be to give yourself deadlines. If you give yourself a time frame to accomplish a specific goal, you can be pleasantly surprised at how quickly your circumstances are changing for the better.

“Clinging to the past is the problem. Embracing change is the answer.”
